In his comprehensive report, reviewer Matthias Böde explores the evolution of HMS following its transition to International Audio Holding (IAH), and examines how the iconic Suprema series has been carefully refined while preserving the engineering philosophy established by founder Hans Manfred Strassner.

The review highlights how the new Suprema MC² cables continue the legacy of HMS while introducing several technical refinements developed by the IAH engineering team. One of the most significant changes is the transition to monocrystalline solid-core copper conductors, designed to improve electron transport while reducing microphonic effects caused by vibration.
In addition, the traditional ferrite-based shielding has been replaced with a continuous carbon foil, providing more effective protection against modern sources of high-frequency interference such as Wi-Fi, mobile communication, and radio signals.
During STEREO’s listening tests, both the previous generation Suprema cables and the new MC² versions were compared within a high-end reference system. Across power cables, interconnects, and speaker cables, the new models demonstrated improvements in spatial openness, micro-detail, and overall structure of the soundstage.
According to the review, the new generation retains the characteristic HMS balance of homogeneity, openness, and natural tonal warmth, while offering greater clarity and separation of musical elements. Instruments appear more precisely layered, allowing listeners to follow complex recordings with greater ease while maintaining a coherent musical presentation.
STEREO ultimately concludes that the refinement of the Suprema design remains fully true to the original HMS philosophy, while elevating resolution and transparency to an even higher level.
